You, my own deep soul,
trust me. I will not betray you.
My blood is alive with many voices
telling me I am made of longing.

Rilke
From The Book of Hours I, 39

This is one of my favorite songs. The Ke$ha version made me cry (!) the first time I heard it; it's so haunting and forlorn. I have been listening to female vocal covers of it today, and I found this Melanie one. I like her hippie vibe, but she sounds a bit too spaced out for me. Joan Baez slays. The Dylan version reigns supreme, though, because he's just so glib and apathetic. You can tell he is a bit sad, but ultimately just doesn't give a fuck. Plus I am in love with the harmonica.

I see my life drifting by, and I know I'm gonna die.

Today's a good day. New shoes, new sweatshirt, new anointing oil, delicious food, and loving my man. And this song. Always this song.
